After extensive design and development Sands Agricultural Machinery Ltd are pleased to launch their new range of self-propelled sprayers designated ‘Vision’ with an all-new cab and numerous other features fitted as standard.
Built here in the UK, the ‘Vision’ gives the operator a level of comfort and visibility not previously available on self propelled sprayers. Boasting 3 cubic metres of internal space the ‘Vision’ loses none of the airy, roomy feel of the previous Sand’s cab. Whilst retaining a similar floor pan but now with a lightly curved screen, the whole interior features the best quality materials and is finished to an extremely high standard. The roof panel houses the climate control, CD radio, work light switches and facility for hands free phone connection. A new, dual colour high back air seat is fitted, complete with adjustable lumbar support and attached to this is the main sprayer controls.
This all-new control panel has been ergonomically designed with ease of use and simplicity being the main criteria. All the controls are grouped by function in five individual banks, with the most commonly used being the first that come to hand. At the side of the panel, close to the operator is the multi-function joystick. This controls forward and rear motion, boom section controls and main spray on and off.
At the front of the control panel is the spray controller. In standard specification this is the highly regarded RDS Delta 4 unit. However for those requiring GPS guidance and steering, auto-section control or automatic boom levelling, Sand’s can offer a range of systems from various manufacturers.
Externally the ‘Vision’ is a striking, modern design with high intensity oval headlights and work lights. The fibreglass roof is hinged to allow access to the air conditioning unit and has a mounting position for GPS antennas. Easy access is by Sand’s trademark sliding door and the whole cab is glazed in green tinted glass. At the back of the cab a sealed opening allows extra looms for de-mount spreader kits and variable rate systems to be fitted with ease.
At the rear of the machine Sand’s unique ‘load sensed’ hydraulic system has been further improved upon with an all-new valve block and greatly reduced number of hoses and fittings. These are then routed through a super tough ‘energy chain’ from the chassis to the back frame to keep things simple and tidy, significantly reducing chaffing and potential hose damage. The ‘prime & purge’ boom re-circulation system has been further improved upon with the addition of some clever, low volume plumbing. Higher pressures can now be used to both prime the boom before spraying and when rinsing the boom after work.
Also fitted is a larger 2-stage lift ram which now gives a maximum nozzle height of 2.5m above the ground - whilst retaining a minimum height of 0.65 above the ground for early, soil based spraying.
