The latest self-propelled range of sprayers from Sands Agricultural Machinery, the Horizon, has made it’s demonstration debut on a number of farms from East Anglia right up to the Borders of Scotland. Having been launched at Cereals this year the Company was keen for it to be put through its paces in varying on farm conditions. The result of which has been an overwhelming success with orders being received from customers old and new for the new model.
Main comments from the demonstrations centred on the quietness, comfort and visibility of the cab together with excellent boom ride. This was with a 30m variable geometry boom fitted with the latest Norac auto boom levelling system. Simon Beever, Farm Manager at Willerby Wold Piggeries, East Yorkshire was particularly impressed on his very steep, undulating land at the top of the Yorkshire Wolds. ‘I’m very impressed with the how it followed the ground contours, even in some of our very worst fields – it didn’t touch the ground once’ he said.
The Horizon is the result of over a years work in design and development, primarily with the all new panoramic cab but also with the drive system, auto boom levelling, anti-yaw system and overall styling. The result is machine that is both comfortable, gives excellent visibility and boom ride coupled with a comparatively low weight even on the largest 5500 litre model - Which weighs in at a shade over 9 tonne when fitted with a 30m, variable geometry boom.
